The funeral home and crematory are completely "family owned and operated" by Tom and Maureen Fitzgerald, who have a daughter Meagan, who has a career in health care; a son Michael, who is in college and, who knows, may still choose to enter the profession, and another son, Patrick, who is currently in training to become a licensed funeral director. Patrick will be the fourth generation of Fitzgerald's to serve the Rockford community. There aren't many family businesses that can say that today. You'll forgive our pride in that accomplishment, won't you? Since 1914, Fitzgerald Funeral Home has served literally tens of thousands of Rockford area families. Many families have been loyal to us for generations. Some are now calling us for the first time. Company Profile: Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. employs 7 licensed funeral directors, 5 full-time staff, and 24 part-time support staff. We offer families a choice of using our 12,000 square foot funeral home on Riverside Avenue on the West side or our 18,000 square foot funeral home and crematory on Mulford Avenue on the East side of Rockford. We own all of our own vehicles (9 in all), and perform all of our own embalming, removals, cremations, etc. We do not use "outsiders" or "third party providers".
