Elmer Ray "Cowboy" Rodgers

January 18, 1940 - May 21, 2012

Elmer "Ray" "Cowboy" Rodgers 72 of Rockford passed away Monday May 21, 2012 in Rockford Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Pocahontas, AK on January 18, 1940.  The son of Lester and Lillian Rodgers.  Elmer worked as a Truck Driver for most of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, three sons, Paul, Larry and Alvin.  Eleven grandchildren.  Brothers, Eugene, Willy and Ben Rodgers.  Sisters, Juanita Wilson and Diane Richmond.  Predeceased by his parents, brother Babe and Sister, Oletta.

I am so sorry to hear the passing of your father Paul. Kyle and I send our condolences to you and the rest of your family. There is nothing harder to go through then the losing your parent. He was a great man and will be sorely missed. I am sure he is looking over you all now from heaven.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Elmer Rodgers. He was a good friend and fellow member of Rockford Odd Fellow #140. My heart felt sympanty goes out to his family. I will truly miss him.

Ray was one of the "Gatekeepers" of Rockford Odd Fellow Lodge #140. He helped keep the lodge open when membership was low. Through his efforts Rockford Lodge still exists today. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his wife, sons and family. He will be missed.
