Reverend Vincent J. Shindelar, 81
Rockford—Reverend Vincent J. Shindelar, 81 of Rockford died, Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. after an extended illness at Provena Cor Mariae Center. Born March 24, 1929 in Calmar, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Kopacek) Shindelar. Father Shindelar attended Catholic grade school in Calmar, Iowa, and then attended St. Procopius Abbey for his High School, College and Major Seminary education and formation as a Benedictine monk. He was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on May 3, 1956 by Bishop Martin McNamara in Joliet, Illinois.
Survivors; Sisters, Josephine Hirsman of Michigan, Monica DeLorenzo of Maryland, Agnes (Fritz) Geyer of Lisle Illinois, and his brother James (Myrna) Shindelar of Texas sister-in-law Mary Shindelar and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and Brother John Shindelar.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at St. Edward Parish, Rockford, Illinois. The Most Reverend Thomas G. Doran, Bishop of Rockford, is officiating.
