It's important to recognize that funerals and memorial ceremonies are for the living ... for those who are affected by the loss of a loved one. It is through the funeral process that a number of emotional needs are met for those who grieve (See Frequently Asked Questions for information about funerals).

Earth Burial was selected by 65% our our families in 2004.

Traditional Service Package (Selected by 60% our our families in 2004)
The deceased is usually embalmed, dressed and placed in a casket for viewing, followed by a funeral service either in our chapel or in a church followed by a processional to the cemetery for a committal service.  Family reception of some kind usually follows.

Contemporary Service Package (Selected by 4% our our families in 2004)
Very similar to the Traditional Service Package, except the viewing is only held immediately prior to the funeral service.

Graveside Service Package (Selected by 1% our our families in 2004)
A brief committal service is held for family and friends at the grave followed by earth burial.

A great many options exist within the frameworks defined above, and families are encouraged to meet with our professional staff to explore these options and create a service that will be appropriate and meaningful to them.  Again, we suggest that this is best and easiest accomplished on a pre-need basis.
