Cremation was selected by 35% our our families in 2004.

Traditional Service Package (Selected by 5% our our families in 2004)
This option is very similar in appearance and function to the Traditional Service Package described under Funeral Services.  The deceased is usually embalmed, dressed and placed in a “cremation casket” for viewing, followed by a funeral service either in our chapel or in a church followed by delivering directly to our crematory for cremation.  The family may, if they wish, assist in starting the actual cremation process or even remain present throughout.  Following cremation, the cremated remains are processed, placed in a container selected by the family and returned to the family for permanent memorialization, usually within 48 hours.

Traditional Service Package with "Rental" Casket (Selected by 10% our our families in 2004)
Again, this service package usually includes traditional embalming and viewing followed by a Funeral or Memorial Ceremony; however, instead of purchasing a cremation casket, a “Rental” Casket is used.  The Rental Casket contains a sturdy “insert” that is tastefully lined with crepe or velvet and has a bed and pillow.  This “insert” is then removed from the casket and used during the cremation.  For many families, this option represents an economically and environmentally friendly alternative.  Our staff would be happy to demonstrate these products, or click merchandise to view products.

Immediate Cremation followed by Memorial Service (Selected by 11% our our families in 2004)
This option permits families to gather some time after the death and cremation to honor their loved one.  Usually, a Memorial Service with video tribute or Memory Table or Memory Board is held at the funeral home (or church) with the cremated remains present in an urn.  Family and friends usually gather afterward for some kind of reception.

Immediate Cremation (Selected by 6% our our families in 2004)
This service includes no formal ceremony of any kind at the funeral home; however, a high degree of care and personal staff attention still accompanies the selection of this option.  After arrangements are made, the funeral home’s own professional licensed staff secure, identify, wash, disinfect and dress the remains, (we prefer that family members identify their loved one) place it in a sturdy lined container with mattress and pillow and hold it in refrigerated storage for the legally required 24 hour period.  The cremation occurs in our own crematory under the direction of our licensed staff and certified crematory staff.  The cremated remains are then processed, and returned to the family in an appropriate container or urn selected by the family.

Economy Cremation (Selected by 3% our our families in 2004)
This option does not include a family identification.  The remains are wrapped and placed in a simple cardboard container selected by the family for cremation, which is always supervised by our licensed and certified professional staff.  The cremated remains are usually mailed to the family.

A great many options exist within the frameworks defined above, and families are encouraged to meet with our professional staff to explore these options and create a service that will be appropriate and meaningful to them.  We suggest that this is best and easiest accomplished on a pre-need basis.
